180 KISD Seniors Earned College Degree Before High School Diploma

The Killeen ISD graduation season has come to a close, marking a significant milestone for the 180 students who walked across the stage. It was a memorable evening as Central Texas College hosted the graduation ceremony, honoring the new college graduates who had completed their degrees. These accomplished individuals have a unique journey, as they will return to high school for a few days after having earned their college degrees tonight.

The graduating class consisted of 180 Killeen ISD high school seniors who have diligently pursued associates degrees through various programs, such as the STEM Academy, KISD Early College High School, or Culinary program. Thanks to the partnership between KISD and CTC, these students had the opportunity to simultaneously complete two years of college alongside their four years of high school, and the best part was that it came at no cost to them.

GradsThe grand event took place at the Bell County Expo Center at 6:30 p.m., where proud families and friends gathered to celebrate the graduates' accomplishments. For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony was streamed live on www.killeenisd.org/livetv, ensuring that no one missed out on this joyous occasion.

The KISD class of 2023 comprised nearly 2,500 students, and among them were 40 individuals preparing to serve their country by enlisting in the military. Additionally, 400 seniors earned an impressive total of 683 industry certifications in their chosen career fields through the KISD Career Center. Notably, two students stood out as National Merit Scholars, showcasing their exceptional academic achievements.

Looking ahead, other KISD graduations are scheduled to take place in the coming days. Early College High School's graduation is set for May 24 at 3:00 p.m. at the Expo Center.
