Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), 2015
Under Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), local educational agencies (LEAs) that receive federal funds are required to provide equitable services for eligible private nonprofit school students, teachers, and other educational personnel. Services provided by the LEAs for private nonprofit school participants must be designed to meet the educational needs of eligible private nonprofit school students and supplement the educational services provided by private nonprofit schools. After consultation, private nonprofit schools may receive equitable services under Title I Part A, Title I Part C, Title II, Title III, and Title IV Parts A and B. The LEA must spend the funds on behalf of the private schools, and the funds must never be given to the private nonprofit schools.
