Schoology is the Killeen Independent School District's selected learning management system, used to support course management, digital learning, communication, and collaboration in grades 3 through 12.

The Schoology platform enables students, parents, and teachers to engage with learning materials in a safe, secure, single sign-on environment.
When using the Parent Access Code provided by your child's teacher to create an account, you are automatically associated with your child. You can add additional children to your account using the Add Child button

What is Schoology and why are teachers using it?
- Teachers use Schoology to post their classroom instructional materials online, provide a safe forum for students to discuss their ideas and collaborate on projects and to even assign and collect homework electronically.
- Schoology allows students to interact in a dynamic, digital environment anytime, anywhere, so they are career and college ready.
- It helps students stay organized and it keeps the class connected.
- Schoology makes it easy for parents/guardians to stay involved in their children’s education.

How do I access Schoology?
- Go to www.schoology.com
- Click Sign Up at the top of the page and and choose Parent.
- Enter your Parent Access Code. This is a 12-digit code in xxxx-xxxx-xxxx format that you receive from one of your child's instructors.
- Fill out the form with your information.
- Click Register to complete.
When you use a Parent Access Code to create an account, you are automatically associated to your child. You can add additional children to your account using the Add Child button.

What to expect in Schoology

Home Access Center (HAC) is the official grading system for Killeen Independent School District. Refer to HAC for the most accurate grades.
Grading
If a teacher uses the Schoology gradebook, parents can expect the following:
- Access to digital assignment submissions in Schoology directly through the gradebook.
- Note: Student documents are not viewable to parents because access/permissions are restricted to students and teachers.
- Individual assignments and grades will be visible in Schoology; however, attendance, interim, quarter, and overall final grades will appear in Home Access Center (HAC) as the KISD official grading system.
Instruction
If a teacher uses Schoology as an instructional tool, parents can expect to view:
- Your child’s activity in the course, including but not limited to:
- Upcoming assignments or events posted in your child’s calendar
- Submitted and missing assignments
- Posts (text and media) your child created
Communication
If a teacher uses Schoology as a communication tool, parents can expect the following:
- Classroom communication such as announcements about assignments and classroom updates.
- Upcoming assignments and events for a course are directly added to the student homepage and calendar.
What to remember as you engage with Schoology:
- Though parents will see all the child’s courses in Schoology, some course materials will vary by teacher.
