An event in downtown Killeen that revolved around football brought a representation of every Killeen ISD high school football team.
The city’s third annual Touchdown in Downtown on Saturday began with local high school football.
Killeen ISD Community Relations Director Angenet Wilkerson introduced five high school teams as coaches and captains made their way to the downtown stage.
Players dressed in jerseys representing Roos, Eagles, Grey Wolves, Knights and Bobcats shared the event stage.
Deputy Superintendent Megan Bradley and Executive Athletic Director Latisha Williams addressed the gathered crowd.
Bradley praised the district’s many athletics teams and pointed out the importance of sports to help mold character traits and build team players.
Williams invited the public to come to games, which she pointed out, take place every day of the week on some level throughout the school year.
The festival, which included games, vendors and a “Best Fan” contest, also featured drumlines from KISD high schools.
After the KISD leaders introduced the players, the event MC brought to the front each drumline to perform.
Shoemaker, Harker Heights, Chaparral and Ellison drumlines performed, and the Ellison and Chaparral cheerleaders supported their groups.

Fall sports are well underway in KISD at the middle school and high school levels.
