For the first time since 1993, the Ellison Eagles are headed to the UIL 5A State Semifinals to face Mansfield Summit! As fate would have it, Ellison’s Coach Alberto Jones Jr. and Summit’s Coach Prichett were teammates back in the late 1990s.
Pictured here is the 1996-1997 team, which included junior Alberto Jones (#23), and senior Emund Prichett (#11). These two teammates each went on to become coaches, with Alberto Jones serving as Head Boys' Basketball Coach here at Ellison, and Coach Prichett serving as Head Boys' Basketball Coach at Mansfield Summit High School.
Led by friends and former Ellison teammates, these two teams will meet at the Alamodome this Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m. for the UIL 5A State Semifinals game!
Also seen in this photo (top left) is then-coach David Manley, who now serves as an Assistant Superintendent in Killeen ISD, along with Rick Kirkpatrick (top right), who is the current Superintendent of Florence ISD.
