Despite cold temperatures on Thursday, the KISD Special Olympics Team athletes came out to practice as they prepared for their upcoming track meet. Skills teacher and coach Sylvia Luna and varsity shot put and discus thrower Daniel Lanxon, both from Harker Heights, worked with Myracle Thomas from Shoemaker High School on her shot-put technique.
Adaptive PE teacher and coach Kent Owens coaches Harker Heights athlete Johnathan Peterson and Liberty Hill Middle school athlete Kaleb Bruce-Tagoe on the long jump.
Coach Kent says he loves watching these athletes compete as they give everything they have to represent their school.
The KISD Special Olympics Team is hosting a Special Olympics Area meet on March 25, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Joseph Searles III Stadium located on 4400 Chaparral Road, Killeen, Texas 76542.
